International pop sensation Blackpink have been chosen as Time journal’s 2022 Entertainer of the Year, making the four-woman band the second Okay-pop artists to earn the title, after BTS in 2020.
Chosen by YG Leisure, a giant South Korean document label that screens performers for star high quality and trains them intensively, the quartet – Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé – discovered worldwide stardom rapidly after their 2016 debut.
Their first LP, “The Album,” bought multiple million copies in lower than a month after its 2020 launch.
In a Time characteristic marking the Entertainer of the Year award, the group revisited their journey, from taking part in at Coachella in 2019 to performing “Pink Venom” on the VMAs earlier this 12 months.
